Kaiser Wilhelm II is standing on the right, under a canopy, facing the monument to Margrave Johann (Hans) von Brandenburg-Küstrin (1513-1571), which is still hidden from view with a curtain. The statue stands in front of the Schloss-Caserne at the Schlossfreiheit in Cüstrin (Küstrin, today's Kostrzyn). Civilians stand in a semi-circle between the tent and the monument, soldiers on the other side of the tent. Behind them are people sitting on a stand. Behind the statue is the Marienkirche with one tower on the west side, crowned with an octagonal lantern. In the foreground, looking back, are civilians and a military chapel. The Schloss-Caserne is just visible on the right. The square is decorated with flags and garlands.
